Growing stronger together, building trust and leadership

Last week, our team left the office behind for a three-day off-site, trading meeting rooms and screens for walking boots and open skies. Over a few days in the heart of the Lake District National Park, we took time to look inward, connect with one another and challenge ourselves.

This experience was about more than just time away. We focused on building stronger relationships, sharpening our collaboration and developing the kind of resilient, courageous team that can shape the future of our business.

Stretching boundaries and building trust

The off-site programme was designed by expert facilitators with backgrounds in business, adventure and high-performance sport. These people advise Olympic teams and have led expeditions into remote corners of the globe. The goal was to take us beyond our comfort zones and into hands-on, practical learning.

From team workshops and communication exercises to shared reflections and outdoor challenges, every moment pushed us to understand ourselves and each other more clearly. We explored what makes us effective and what might be holding us back.

Learning about ourselves and each other

We began the course by exploring how each of us presents ourselves in both our personal and professional lives. Using colour profiles, we reflected on our strengths, communication styles and preferences. Everyone had the opportunity to share their story and perspective with the broader team.

Next, we delved into deeper conversations about how we collaborate, how we build trust and how we stay accountable to one another. We examined our company culture from the inside out: what we value, how we make decisions, and what kind of team we aspire to be. Every voice counted.

Conquer peaks and challenges together

On day two, we took some time to take those insights into the real world. We climbed to the summit of Catstye Cam through wind and rain, completing time-limited challenges along the way. While hiking to the top, we worked on our communication, shared leadership and mutual support. No one was left behind, and everyone made a meaningful contribution. What we experienced on that mountain said more about us than any agenda ever could.

That moment at the top, as the clouds lifted and the sun broke through, was more than symbolic. It reminded us of what’s possible when we work together.

Turning reflection into action

To close the programme, we gathered to reflect on what we’d achieved and what we could still improve. Each team member created a personal action plan and shared it with the broader team as a commitment to applying what we’d learned and continuing to grow.

Revisiting our foundations

As part of our time together, we also took the opportunity to revisit Cambrionix’s mission, vision and values. They’re the direction we move in, and the foundation that guides everything we do.

Our mission

To create the fastest, most reliable, most intelligent device connectivity solutions on the planet and beyond.

Our vision

We envision a future where Cambrionix touches every mobile device in the Universe.

Our values

We’re brave innovators and global experts. We deeply value our customers’ trust and work hard to power their mission-critical operations. We’re always ambitious about a more successful future, and very proud of our team and what we achieve together. With input from across the team, we ensured that these guiding principles continue to reflect who we are and who we’re becoming.

Carrying the momentum forward

Each of us walked away from this experience with more than just memories. We left with a clearer sense of our role in shaping the business and its culture, a deeper awareness of our impact on others and a personal plan for taking action.

We’re returned to work with more energy, empathy, and alignment, ready to meet challenges with courage, support one another and push beyond what seems possible. The momentum is real, and the journey continues.

Q&A

  • Why can't SQA teams rely on simulators alone?

Simulators cannot reproduce real-world hardware behaviours, OEM-specific differences, biometric flows, camera and performance constraints, or network variability. Final validation of any software release must run on physical devices to confirm it behaves correctly across the full range of devices your users own.

  • What causes device dropouts during automated testing?

Device dropouts during automated testing are most commonly caused by USB infrastructure that cannot sustain the combined data and power demands of large device fleets under heavy workloads. Consumer-grade USB 2 and USB 3 hubs lack the bandwidth, stability, and power delivery capability required for enterprise-scale SQA environments. Purpose-built solutions with Thunderbolt architecture and intelligent Power Delivery eliminate this problem.

  • How does AI development affect real-device testing requirements?

AI-assisted development increases the speed and frequency of software releases. Every release still requires validation on real hardware before deployment, which means the volume of real-device testing increases in direct proportion to the pace of AI-driven development. Teams that do not scale their real-device testing infrastructure risk becoming the bottleneck in an otherwise accelerated development pipeline.

  • What is intelligent Power Delivery in USB hub testing solutions?

Intelligent Power Delivery (PD) allows a USB hub to consistently allocate the right level of charging power to each connected device based on its requirements and battery state. In SQA environments, this prevents devices from losing charge during long automated test runs, reduces unnecessary charging that degrades battery health over time, and ensures all tests complete successfully even under heavy parallel workloads.

  • How do Cambrionix hubs integrate with automated testing workflows?

The Cambrionix Connect software provides an API and CLI for programmatic control of individual ports and devices. Teams can remotely manage device connectivity, reboot devices, schedule charging sessions, and monitor real-time device status without physical access to the lab. These capabilities can be combined with third-party tools such as Apple Configurator and other test automation frameworks, allowing teams to incorporate Cambrionix hubs into broader automated workflows and device management pipelines.
