Space-bound hardware must meet engineering standards far beyond ordinary products. Every material, electrical path, component emission, and thermal behaviour must be understood, controlled, and documented to withstand launch conditions and pass strict qualification and safety reviews. That immediately rules out most USB hardware: few vendors can provide the level of disclosure required, from polymer grades and grounding paths to fan specs, capacitor chemistry and wire gauges. Without that engineering rigour, there is nothing to assess-let alone certify.
An engineering services contractor supporting a space agency needed a multiport USB hub for use aboard a crewed orbital research platform. Cambrionix’s engineering team worked directly with the contractor'stesting and certification team, supplying the component-level detail their safety analysis required and multiple USB hubs for stress testing to the point of failure. Cambrionix ThunderSync USB hubs successfully passed these stringent tests.
